About
The Neskonlith Indian Band belongs to the Secwepemc Nation, a nation whose traditional territory spans approximately 180,000 square kilometers in South-Central British Columbia. Occupying this territory, at one point, was 30 Bands. Today, however, only 17 of these bands remain. The Neskonlith Band is situated on 3 reserves centering around the area of Chase BC. The main administrative offices are on IR2 just south of Chase along the Thompson River and Trans-Canada highway.
In recent years, Neskonlith Band and its people have been active participants in promoting social change for Native people and on the environmental conservation front. Some of contemporary history's important leaders, such as Chief William Pierish, who traveled to London to fight for native land rights, George Manuel, first National Chief, and Janice Billy, have emerged from Neskonlith. Important social change for our future also includes the establishment of economic viability as a community, and many initiatives are being taken to further this goal. Promoting entrepreneurial
